Lo scorso week end in quel di Chicago si è tenuto il C2E2, il Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo, e son fioccate un po' di news sui progetti dei vari editori per i prossimi mesi

Mark Millar ha un po' questa fissa di dirci la sua su cosa farebbero i supereroi inseriti in un contesto reale, tanto in Kick-Ass quanto in 1985 o Nemesis o ancora, seppur marginalmente, in Ultimates, ha sempre provato ad affrontare diversi aspetti della questione. Si trattasse di qualcun altro potremmo dire che è una tematica a lui cara ma, dai, è Millar, è soltanto una fissa, una scusa come un'altra per tirare fuori tamarrate a caso.

Questa fissa, dicevamo, riciccia fuori anche in Jupiter's Legacy, la sua nuova serie Image in collaborazione con Frank Quitely che Marktiello ci presenta come "the greatest superhero epic of this generation, your big superhero summer event and you don't need to buy crappy tie-ins to enjoy it". oooooook.

Negli anni '30 un gruppo di avventurieri-esploratori sbarca su una misteriosa isola di lostiana memoria e lì riceve superpoteri di vario genere. Diventeranno i protettori degli oppressi e salvatori dell'umanità e tutto il resto. Ma, anni e anni dopo, cosa succederà ai loro figli e nipoti? Perchè se i supereroi esistessero veramente, sarebbero delle superstar, e questi ragazzi sarebbero l'equivalente delle nostre Paris Hilton... quindi come saranno questi ragazzini che si ritrovano poteri che non si sono andati a cercare e che non sanno come usare visto che tutti i supercattivi e le minacce planetarie sono stati già fermati dai fortissimi bellissimi magnifici genitori? Oltre che far ricco qualche psichiatra, farsi il giro dei privè e tirarsi coca spaziale (nel senso proprio di extraplanetaria) cosa resta da fare a sti qua?

In questo primo numero non succede granchè, passate 4-5 pagine di prologo negli anni '30 si calca la mano sulla contrapposizione tra le 2 generazioni, mentre i vecchi prendono a cazzotti un Thanos de noartri e si infilano in una discussione su come continuare ad usare i loro poteri, se continuando a fare i bravi soldatini o prendere in mano la situazione e presentarsi nella cameretta di Obama a dirgli un po' cosa fare col suo secondo mandato, i giovani si scopano grupies nei bagni o si prendono un'overdose piangendosi addosso.

Per adesso, pur'essendo chiaramente scritto con mestiere e portando a casa un paio di dialoghi ben riusciti, il fumetto non brilla particolarmente né per originalità né per profondità né per qualsiasi cosa si possa brillare, sa un po' di tante cose già lette mescolate assieme. Marktiello fa lo splendido squando esce il prossimo? ti chiedi e il tie-in dove succede qualcosa dove sta?.

C'è da segnalare comunque che questo Jupiter's Legacy si va ad inserire nella linea dei lavori più maturi di Millar, più misurati, senza scivolare nelle trovate tamarre, a volte geniali a volte inguardabili (per dare un'ordine alle cose, prete che ammazza branco di vampiri benedicendo la pioggia -> geniale, supercriminale che impianta una bomba nell'utero di una ragazzina che esploderà se proverà ad abortire dopo averla fatta mettere incinta dal fratello -> NO) che sono il suo marchio di fabbrica.

Siamo più dalle parti di Superior che quelle di Nemesis insomma.

E non si può mai sapere se è una cosa buona o no.

Ma al di la di tutto quello che si può dire sulla scrittura, come si può dire di no alla prospettiva di una razione mensile di Frank Quitely? Tanto più che se si può dire una cosa indiscutibilmente buona del lavoro di Millar è che riesce a valorizzarlo a pieno, vedi l'unica scena d'azione con una tavola in particolare che sembra proprio disegnata per lui.

In una scala che va dalla Margherita di Michele ad un'abominio come LA PIZZA COL PESTO, Jupiter's Legacy è una Capricciosa, c'è un mischione di un po' tutti gli ingredienti che il pizzaiolo c'ha sul banco ed è difficile sbagliarla, ma questo è anche il suo limite.

Del Toro, HBO e Monster

Deadline ha riportato poche ore fa che Guillermo Del Toro, accantonati i progetti per un film sulla Justice League Dark (mannagg...), abbia deciso di guardare dall'altro lato dell'oceano e produrre una serie tv basata su Monster, il fumetto di Naoki Urasawa.

Il protagonista di Monster è il dottor Kenzo Tenma, un giovane chirurgo le cui cure salveranno la vita di un mostro, uno dei peggiori assassini psicopatici che la storia ricordi, e dei suoi sforzi per raddrizzare questo "torto"

La sceneggiatura sarà scritta da Steven Thompson, che ha scritto per il Doctor Who e Sherlok, e Guglielmino dovrebbe, oltre che produrre la serie, dirigere il pilot.

Kevin Feige, presidente dei Marvel Studios, parlando con Newsarama di Iron Man 3 si è lasciato scappare anche questa, ma non ha parlato di eventuali progetti a riguardo.

Di Daredevil ricordiamo ma preferiremmo dimenticare il brutto film della Fox con Ben Affleck.

Mentre abbiamo tutti giustamente dimenticato lo spin off dedicato ad Elektra con Jennifer Garner. Ops. Sorry per aver fatto riaffiorare brutti ricordi.

Se ne Parla a Novembre di vederlo nelle sale comunque, quindi c'è tempo peraltri 2 trailer nei prossimi mesi per affossare ancora di più l'hype che non c'è

Freccia Verde: Anno Uno

Ripesco dalla pila di arretrati questo volume di qualche anno fa, un po' spinto dal buon rilancio di Lemire e un po' perchè Arrow manca da qualche settimana in TV e sto in astinenza da archi e frecce.

Oliver Queen, giovane miliardario, passa la vita ad ubriacarsi alle aste di beneficenza ed a vomitare nelle limousine. Un bel giorno, durante una bella gitarella in barca con la guardia del corpo, questi gli ruba 15 milioni di dollari, lo tramortisce e lo butta in mare. COLPODISCENA non muore, e si risveglia su un'isola deserta dove per sopravvivere dovrà confidare su un arco di fortuna e delle lezioni di tiro prese da ragazzino. COLPODISCENA l'isola non è deserta, anzi è abitata da brutti cattivi che la usano per coltivare l'oppio. Il nostro raddrizzerà i torti, libererà la popolazione indigena, farà nascere un bambino (no, davvero. farà nascere un bambino.) e diventerà una persona meglio.

A livello di storia non mi ha impressionato per niente. Capisco che un Anno Uno abbia come scopo quello di essere il più digeribile possibile, che si sia puntati al lettore occasionale o a quello che si avvicina per la prima volta al personaggio, non ne sa niente, vuole che il volume sia totalmente autoconclusivo e che ci sono alcune cose che questo pubblico vuole trovare e vuole sentirsi raccontare, ma c'è modo e modo di fare le cose, c'è modo e modo di riraccontare una storia e c'è un limite massimo di clichè ed eroismo da supermercato passato il quale io non reggo più e sbrocco

Una storia in cui il protagonista deve fare da ostetrica e la mamma della neonata decide di mettergli il suo nome non sarà mai una bella storia.

Meno male che c'è Jock va, meno male, con le solite tavole minimaliste e dinamiche, i colori compatti, l'impostazione della tavola sempre originale e personalissima che rende la pillola abbondantemente digeribile

In una scala che va dal castagnaccio alla cheesecake, questo year one sembra una torta da esposizione, di quelle che nelle vetrine sembrano belle belle ma se provi a dargli un mozzico ti trovi il polistirolo in bocca

Si inizia con Persepolis, di Marjane Satrapi, cronaca autobiografica di un'infanzia iraniana, e si andrà avannti con altre opere strafamose come Palestina, Valzer con Bashir e Pyongyang.

Bagno di sangue per la DC che si becca solo 3 nomination, di cui 2 per miglior copertinista, sintomo di una crisi creativa abbastanza davanti agli occhi di tutti. Certo, magari un qualche riconoscimento a Batman ci poteva uscire, però quest'è. La Marvel se la cavicchia, 8 proposte, anche se la maggior parte se le porta tutte a casa l'ottimo Hawkeye. La Image se l'è cavata, meritatissimamente, molto meglio delle due concorrenti,18 nomination, da sottolineare l'impressionante 4 su 5 in best continuing series con Manhattan Projects, Saga, Fatale e Prophet

In generale i giudici si son buttati pesantemente sull'indie, c'è da vedere se avranno il "coraggio" di tenere la tendenza anche alla consegna dei premi a San Diego.

E Adventure Time s'è preso na carrettata di nomination, quasi quasi gli do n'occhiata

Cioè non l'hanno annunciato ancora, è l'annuncio dell'annuncio sul prossimo numero di Game Informer

Dopo Arkham Asylum ed Arkham City quindi ecco il seguito, Batman: Arkham Origins, evidentemente un prequel degli altri 2 che racconterà di come una notte di natale di un po' di tempo fa un mucchio di gente brutta ed assassini prezzolati del DCU si riuniscono per fare la pelle al Pipistrello.

Il gioco sinceramente non parte coi migliori degli auspici visto che non lo svilupperà Rocksteady ma WB Games Montreal e Paul Dini non si occuperà della sceneggiatura, e questo non è bello. Uscita prevista il 25 Ottobre prossimo per Pc, X360, WiiU e PS3, e a fargli da companion ci sarà anche Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate, gioco portable per 3DS e PSVita, un metroidvania 2.5D sviluppato da Armature Studio dove verranno approfonditi altri aspetti della storia.

Action Comics by Grant Morrison (#1/18)

Quando ci fu l'annuncio del New 52 e ci si strappava i capelli (almeno chi ce li ha ancora) per il reboot e gli anni di continuity persi e "omg le mie storie non esistono più!!!", ci si ripeteva un po' come un mantra "Vabbè, ma Grant Morrison scriverà Action Comics, andrà tutto bene".

Tornare a leggere il Superman di Morrison! Con un precedente del calibro di All Star Superman, che è di gran lunga il più grande fumetto di supereroi degli ultimi dieci anni a voler star stretti...

Grantuccio lo aspettavamo tutti al varco, se in ASS (un acronimo un po' infelice ma vabbè) parlava della divinità e della mortalità di Superman, questa serie molto grounded, con un giuovane Clark in jeans e maglietta con la S stampata alle prime armi con la sua carriera di supereroe avrebbe un po' chiuso il cerchio.

Ce la fa? Ce la fa? Ce la fa? Ce la fa? Non ce la fa...

La prima parte è un po' confusa, tutti i numeri singoli o i brevi archi narrativi di cui è composta danno una sensazione di eccessiva disomogeneità, e quando alla luce della parte finale tutta quella disomogeneità assume senso, resta comunque la sensazione che si sarebbe potuto raccontare tutto in modo più chiaro e ordinato.

Resta comunque da sottolineare che anche quando Grantuccio non ce la fa non ti lascia mai a bocca asciutta, i piccoli momenti di genuina "supermanicità" come il brindisi al trionfo del bene sul male che è qua affianco sono tutto quello che vorresti e che iun generale mai trovi in Action Comics, ma è l'idea ala base della serie ad essere mind-blowing, un attacco a Superman da parte di un essere della quinta dimensione che avviene contemporaneamente in diversi momenti della sua vita!

Chi ha letto Flatlandia di Abbot avrà capito subito di che cosa sto parlando, ma immaginate di essere un puntino che vive su di un foglio di carta, senza avere alcuna percezione di una terza dimensione, un asse x e un asse y, niente z. Se pure questo foglietto si muovesse sempre verso l'alto voi non avreste percezione di questo movimento, avreste controllo sui vari movimenti in orizzontale, ma non potreste far niente per quelli in verticale. Adesso immaginate che arrivi io, essere tridimensionale, e decida di cacarvi il cazzo. prendo il vostro foglietto-mondo e vi buco con un ago quando il foglio è a 10cm da terra, poi lo faccio salire a 1 m e vi ribuco, poi lo riporto a 50 cm e vi ribuco e via così. Adesso prendete il tempo come quarta dimensione, quella su cui non abbiamo controllo, va sempre avanti e non ci possiamo far niente. Immaginate però anche un eventuale essere a 5 dimensioni. per lui il tempo sarà un po' come per me l'altezza, e potrà decidere di cacarmi il cazzo a 10, 20, 30 anni semplicemente spostando la mia realtà, alzando ed abbassando il mio cubetto/mondo sull'asse del tempo. Immaginate un attacco a Superman da parte di un rompicoglioni di questa portata. Fatto? Fatto!

In una scala che va dal tizio che colleziona più filoni che presenze a scuola al secchione della classe, la run di Grant Morrison su Action comics si becca un è intelligente ma non si applica, idea da spappolarsi il cervello, peccato per la realizzazione un po' meh.
